My name is Daragh Doyle and I completed the OneSpirit training programme in 2020, it was a remarkable journey of personal growth and healing, one of the best things I have ever done in my life. I have a background of working in personal Injury claims in the Insurance sector, as a Wedding Planner, Wedding Celebrant and end of life funeral celebrant. My wide variety of career experience has been invaluable to me with regard to working with all types of different people from different backgrounds.
As a wedding celebrant I love to meet people from all faiths and none and learning about their story and their journey, and weaving that story and journey into a ceremony that it unique to them as a couple. End of life is always an area that has fascinated me and I great comfort from the feeling of deceased loved ones around me. It is a privilege to work with family’s and individuals on end of life/funeral services. I’m available to do voluntary work in the community be that spending time with some one in a hospice or doing a prison visit. I’m also available to do spiritual counselling which can often form part of the process of preparing for weddings and funerals and also on an individual basis. I recently meet a couple in preparation for their wedding ceremony, and I was really struck by the significant hurdles which had been but in there way, and how their love for one another overcame those hurdles.
A big part of my personal story has been going on a journey of healing from various trauma’s which I have experienced in my own life, from accepting my sexuality as a gay man, a relationship coming to an end which was painful for all involved, to the loss of my brother at a young age. Im a true believer that we can only life a full, happy and fulfilling life by bringing full openness and honesty to our lives, and that often begins with being truly honest with our selves. I don’t believe I have come across any one in life who hasn’t suffered trauma, but it’s the ability to acknowledge and accept that trauma and to allow yourself to heal and recover, and to give your self the tools to do so, that for me is the key to the meaning of life. It took me a long time to discover that but I’m delighted that I have!
