OneSpirit’s Professional & Personal Development Offerings
The Cherry Tree Pathway: The Team Beside You
No matter how personal your spiritual path may be, you don’t have to explore it alone.
At OneSpirit, our two-year training is grounded in a strong and caring foundation. It’s designed to meet you where you are, and to grow alongside you as you question, reflect, and expand. What makes this experience so unique is not just the content, but the people. The team beside you makes all the difference.
Annie, your Core Tutor, gently holds the structure and rhythm of the programme, creating space for each student to develop in their own time and way. She brings a wealth of experience as a chaplain and spiritual accompanier, and holds a deep respect for silence, nature, and honest conversation.
Monica and Sarah, your Group Tutors, each bring something beautifully unique. Monica’s presence is deeply grounded and loving, rooted in ritual, creativity, and soul. She offers a space where your vulnerability is welcome. Sarah brings a bright, embodied approach, drawing on decades of experience in psycho-spiritual health, Taoist practice, and joyful, earth-based wisdom.
Throughout the two years, you’ll also be supported by your peers, OneSpirit staff, and a wider community of ministers and friends. This is a learning experience shaped by connection, honesty, and care. The relationships you form here often continue long after the training ends.
Alongside our core faculty, you’ll also meet a range of guest tutors, experienced facilitators who join us to share their knowledge and lived experience in specific areas of ministry. Many are ordained ministers within the OneSpirit community, while others are trusted friends of the organisation from outside. They bring with them a wide range of spiritual perspectives, traditions, and practices, ensuring you’re exposed to diverse expressions of ministry throughout your training.
The entire reason we’re here, staff, tutors, and trustees alike, is because we believe in this training, in this community, and in this way of life. We’re here to support you, to stand beside you, and to help make sure you can do what you signed up to do.
You can meet your tutors and explore more about the Cherry Tree Pathway here. We’d love to be alongside you on this journey!

OneSpirit’s Community Offerings + Announcements + Thoughts
In Loving Memory – Rev Aleine Ridge
It is with deep sadness that we share the death of Rev Aleine Ridge, ordained in 2010.
She died as she lived, in her full integrity and held by the friends who loved her. Her ministry was her life, expressed especially in her psychotherapy practice and in her far-reaching networks of friends and colleagues. — Rev Felice Rhiannon
Aleine was a deeply cherished member of the OneSpirit community, someone whose presence, wisdom, and unwavering authenticity left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her ministry wasn’t confined to any one space; it lived in the depth of her listening, the care of her practice, and the strength of the relationships she nurtured over the years.
To know Aleine was to encounter someone who met life with courage, clarity, and great compassion. She brought a quiet, steady strength to this work and reminded us that ministry can be lived every day, in every conversation, and in every act of care. We hold Aleine’s loved ones and all who are feeling her absence in our hearts. May her memory continue to bless, to guide, and to inspire.
If you feel moved to share any memories, reflections, or kind words about Aleine, simply reply to this email. We’ll gather them together and include them in the next newsletter.
Holding Nicola in Our Hearts
A message shared on behalf of Monica and Elmer, who have been close by Nicola’s side:
Nicola’s surgery was successfully completed, and while it’s still early days, all signs so far are positive. The doctors are hopeful that she’ll begin to feel better from now on. She’s been through a lot in recent weeks, and all your prayers, love, and kind thoughts for Nicola, her family, and those supporting her continue to mean so much. Whether you pray, light a candle, send warm feelings or kind thoughts, every gesture of care is felt and deeply appreciated. Let’s keep surrounding her with that love as she begins this next stage of healing!
A Belated Mother’s Day Message
Whether you’re a mother, a mother figure, someone who is grieving, someone who longs to be a parent, or someone who offers care and nurture in your own unique way, we hope you felt, and continue to feel, held with love.
Mothering Sunday brings a wide range of emotions, and we want to take a moment to honour all the ways you show up in the world, with love, support, and compassion. However it looks in your life, it matters. And it makes a difference.
Sending warmth to each of you!

You’re Invited – Celebrate Our 2025 Ordinations!
We’re so excited to share that this year, we’ll be celebrating two beautiful ordination ceremonies, one in person and one online, and you are warmly invited to both!
These ceremonies mark the culmination of our students’ two-year journey through deep inner work, spiritual exploration, and heart-led training. Whether you’re a friend, family member, fellow student, tutor, or minister, your presence is a powerful way to honour the dedication, growth, and transformation that each ordinand has moved through.
We would love for you to join us at both events, if you’re able. And if you’re not local to our in-person ordination, attending the online celebration for our Aspen Pathway is a beautiful and generous way to welcome these new ministers into this next phase of their lives.
How special that we get to come together twice for this sacred celebration, especially in a time when the world can feel heavy and uncertain. These moments of joy, connection, and spiritual community are more important than ever. Leaning into the warmth, inspiration, and compassion we find in one another is a powerful reminder that we’re never alone. It feels deeply meaningful that this year, we get to gather not once, but twice, to honour love, transformation, and hope.

Welcoming Josh to the Board of Trustees
We’re delighted to introduce Josh, who recently joined the OneSpirit Board of Trustees!
Josh brings a wealth of professional experience as a lawyer specialising in media and copyright, currently working within the BBC group in London. Alongside his legal career, he has a deep and long-standing interest in spirituality, shaped by a non-exclusive affiliation with the Buddhist tradition. His journey has included exploration of both Theravada and Tibetan Buddhism, though he now feels most at home within the Plum Village tradition, rooted in Vietnamese Zen. Josh’s spiritual outlook is inter-spiritual at heart. Raised in the Anglican tradition, he holds a deep respect for the mystic core found across many paths and believes that no single tradition holds all the answers. He’s travelled extensively and values the opportunity to learn from a wide range of beliefs and practices.
Drawn to OneSpirit’s open, non-dogmatic approach to spirituality, Josh feels a strong alignment with our values and community. He may one day take up the interfaith ordination training, but for now, he’s happy to be contributing as a trustee, bringing his unique blend of legal expertise, spiritual depth, and curiosity to the table. In addition to his professional and spiritual commitments, Josh is currently producing a feature-length documentary film about reincarnation. He holds a postgraduate certificate in Philosophy, Science, and Religion, an MA in Buddhist Studies, and a degree in History, alongside various professional qualifications in Law. Josh lives by the sea in Ramsgate, Kent, with his partner and their two beloved pussycats, where on a clear day, he can see all the way to France.
We’re so grateful to have Josh on board and look forward to the insight and wisdom he’ll bring to OneSpirit.

Rooted: What Interfaith Has Taught Me About Belonging to the Earth
A few years ago, I was working in Washington, DC, in the heart of activism. I believed in what I was doing and poured everything I had into it. But honestly, I often felt overwhelmed and disconnected. It was fast-moving, emotionally intense, and always urgent. I was trying to help heal the world, but I was not sure where I belonged in it.
At that point, I had never even heard of interfaith. I certainly did not imagine I would one day find myself working for an interfaith organization, let alone discovering that this was the space where everything finally clicked.
What I have come to realize is that interfaith isn’t just about dialogue between religions. It is about connection. Deep, human, sacred connection. It has taught me that no matter what path we follow, we all belong to something greater. And we all belong to the Earth.
Across traditions, I have found the same thread of truth:
- In Indigenous spirituality, the land is not a resource, but a relative.
- In Buddhism, we breathe with the trees, one exhale feeding another.
- In Christianity, the Earth groans with us, longs with us, renews with us.
- In Paganism, the turning of the seasons teaches us how to live and die and live again.
- In Islam, we are stewards of creation, not owners.
- In Judaism, even the land is given rest.
Belonging to the Earth means caring for it. Not because we are told to, or because we feel guilty, but because we love it. Because we remember it is part of us, and we are part of it.
And it’s no wonder that now, as spring begins to return, I feel something waking up in me too. I feel lighter, brighter, more myself. The sun on my skin feels like it’s reaching all the way into my soul, and I remember that this renewal is not just seasonal, it’s spiritual.
As Earth Day approaches, I keep coming back to this. Environmentalism is not separate from spirituality. It is spirituality. To care for the Earth is to reconnect with something sacred, something timeless.
This is not about being perfect. It is about being present.
Step outside. Feel the ground. Breathe with the trees. Learn something new. Ask a question. Share something that moves you.
We do not all have to believe the same things. But maybe we can all agree that this world is worth honoring.
And maybe that is enough to begin.
Together.
Written by: Kailee, Communications and Marketing Lead. Below are a few of my favorite photos I’ve taken on my travels, small snapshots of the Earth in all her beauty, diversity, and quiet wonder. From misty coastlines to vibrant forests, each image is a reminder of why this planet is worth honoring. I hope they bring a moment of pause, presence, and appreciation to your day. View more here.

A January Reflection from Ashleigh Ranft
A New Beginning.
What indeed is a new beginning?
I think for me a new beginning is an opportunity, a moment, a breath, a gift, a threshold.
It’s the point at which I can turn and look back and remind myself I’m not going that way!
It’s the new adventures I’ve set for myself.
It’s the possibility of saying goodbye to create space for the moments of hello.
It’s a point that I can have any time I set the intention of right now is my new beginning!
New beginnings are the gifts we can offer ourselves to release pain and move forward to whatever the journey holds next.
A new beginning.
A treasured moment that is always on repeat.
May it always be so.
A January Reflection from Anonymous Minister
A “new beginning” signifies a fresh start, an opportunity to let go of the past and embrace change with hope and determination. It’s a moment of reinvention, where the slate is wiped clean, and we can approach life with a renewed perspective.
One of my most significant new beginnings occurred when I moved to a new city for university. I had always been in my comfort zone, surrounded by familiar faces and routines.
Suddenly, I was thrust into a completely unfamiliar environment, away from family and friends, with nothing but my own resolve to rely on. This experience taught me a lot about my resilience and adaptability.
I learned that I could thrive outside of my comfort zone, and that even in moments of doubt, I could rely on my own strength to move forward. It also showed me the importance of self-reliance, but equally the value of building new connections and embracing uncertainty.
That new beginning, while daunting, became a stepping stone to personal growth and a deeper understanding of myself.
A February Reflection from Anonymous Student
I used to think growth would feel like an unfolding, like a flower gradually opening to the sun. But when I reflect on the moments I have truly grown, they often felt nothing like that. Growth, for me, has been more like stepping into the unknown, stretching beyond what feels comfortable, and trusting that I will find my footing along the way.
One moment stands out from my time this far in the training. I was invited to share a deeply personal reflection in front of my study group. My heart was racing and a part of me wanted to stay quiet. But I knew that staying silent would have been the easier path, not the one that would help me grow. So I spoke. My voice trembled at first, but as I continued, I felt something shift. I was no longer just learning about deep listening, vulnerability, and presence. I was living it.
What helped me move forward? The support of my fellow students. The way we listen to each other without judgement, offering space for both uncertainty and understanding. The trust that we are all on this path together, each of us growing in our own way. When I struggled, it was their encouragement that reminded me I was not alone.
Now, when I feel discomfort rising, I think of the moments we have shared… offering reflections, holding silence, learning from one another. Growth does not always feel easy, but walking this journey alongside others makes it feel possible.
OneSpirit’s Online Overview
Last month, we shared an update on how people are finding OneSpirit through search engines and visiting our website via Google. This month, we wanted to highlight another piece of the puzzle, how our community is engaging with us on social media.
In March, our Facebook reach climbed to nearly 48,000, with over 75,000 views across our posts and a 3,400% increase in follows. Even more exciting? The majority of this reach came from people who don’t yet follow us, meaning more and more individuals are discovering OneSpirit organically and engaging with what we share.
Every time you read a post, leave a comment, follow us, share something to your story, repost our content, or even mention us to a friend, you’re helping us grow. You’re strengthening OneSpirit’s presence in the world, not just as an organisation, but as a movement rooted in inclusivity, compassion, and interfaith understanding. These small actions ripple outward in powerful ways, helping others discover a space where spirituality is open, evolving, and deeply human.
Whether you’ve paused to reflect, offered kind words, or helped someone new find their way to us, thank you. Your support makes all the difference.
Spotlight on Newly Updated Pages
You may notice something a little different when browsing our website. We’ve recently brought together the ‘OneSpirit Staff,’ ‘OneSpirit Faculty,’ and ‘OneSpirit Trustees’ pages into one unified space. Rather than separating these roles, we wanted to reflect the collaborative spirit of how we work behind the scenes.
While our roles may differ, we’re all part of the same team, supporting this community, the training, and one another. This change feels more aligned with the way we operate: in connection, not hierarchy. Whether someone holds the title of staff, tutor, or trustee, we each contribute to OneSpirit’s mission in meaningful and interconnected ways.
We hope this small shift helps show how deeply we value collaboration, transparency, and the many forms of leadership present in our foundation.

A Monthly Review of our Socials

Like the deep roots of a forest, good supervision provides strength, stability, and space to grow. It offers a sanctuary for reflection, a place where ministers and students can deepen their practice, refine their skills, and reconnect with the heart of their work.
Supervision isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about being held in a space of trust, wisdom, and guidance.
Through it, spiritual care remains vibrant, ethical, and ever-evolving, ensuring no one walks their path alone.

Wednesday Wisdom: The Balance of Yin & Yang
In Taoism, Yin and Yang represent the dance of opposites — light and dark, stillness and movement, individuality and unity. One cannot exist without the other, just as our differences and commonalities shape the wholeness of humanity.
Interfaith ministry isn’t about blending beliefs, but honouring the balance between contrast and connection. By embracing both, we find harmony in diversity.
How do you see Yin and Yang reflected in the world around you?

Every tradition holds a thread in the vast tapestry of human spirituality. Exploring different faiths, philosophies, and wisdom traditions opens the heart to new perspectives, deepens understanding, and reveals the many ways the sacred is expressed across cultures.
Whether through prayer, ritual, meditation, or service, each path offers unique insights while pointing toward a shared longing for meaning, connection, and transcendence.

Our Instagram account is a small but intentional offering to the digital world. Every week, we share peaceful imagery (always credited to the original photographer) paired with reflections on themes that echo our training and our values, things like peacebuilding, interfaith dialogue, spiritual exploration, and deep listening.
You’ll also find spotlights on our incredible ministers and students, and the occasional Wednesday Wisdom post, where we share insights into a different faith, religion, or spiritual path to spark curiosity and connection.

Awareness, Spiritual, and Religious Days
Reflections from an Awareness Day
Honouring Earth Day
Earth Day, observed annually on 22 April, is a global reminder of our deep connection to the natural world and a call to action to protect it. Originally established in 1970 to raise awareness of environmental degradation, Earth Day has evolved into a worldwide movement that invites individuals, communities, and institutions to reflect on how we care for the planet and all who call it home.
We often speak of the sacred in all things. Many spiritual traditions honour the Earth not just as our environment, but as a living, breathing presence, Mother Earth, Gaia, the Divine Feminine, the sacred ground from which life springs. In Indigenous, Pagan, and Earth-based spiritualities, as well as in the ecological teachings of major world religions, the Earth is not separate from us, but part of us. To care for her is to care for ourselves and each other. In a world facing climate crisis, ecological collapse, and increasing environmental inequality, Earth Day is not just a date, it’s an invitation. An invitation to reimagine our place in the web of life, to shift from dominance to stewardship, and to take compassionate action grounded in love and justice.
As an interfaith educational charity, we recognise the importance of exploring how spiritual values and ethical teachings can support environmental advocacy. Many OneSpirit ministers and students integrate ecological awareness into their practice, ceremonies, and activism. Whether through eco-grief circles, nature rituals, or sustainable community work, there are countless ways to honour Earth through spiritual leadership. Earth Day asks us to reflect on our daily choices, challenge systems that harm the planet, and return to a place of reverence for the natural world.
Resources for Action and Reflection
To support your journey of ecological awareness and action, here are some thoughtful resources:
-
Faith for the Climate: A UK-based network that connects faith communities committed to climate action.
-
The Centre for Spirituality in Nature: Offers nature-based spiritual practices and resources.
-
The Earth Holder Community (Plum Village tradition): Mindful Earth-care rooted in engaged Buddhism.
-
The Climate Coalition: The UK’s largest group of people dedicated to action against climate change.
-
Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects: Tools for navigating eco-grief and building resilience.
-
Sacred Earth Celebrations by Glennie Kindred: A guide to seasonal and Earth-based rituals.
Whether you mark Earth Day with prayer, protest, planting, or pause, may it be a moment to reconnect—to the land beneath your feet, to the breath you share with the trees, and to the sacred wholeness of this beautiful, fragile planet.
Further Reading: Books to Reconnect with the Earth
This Earth Day, we’re sharing a selection of books that explore our spiritual relationship with nature—drawing from Indigenous wisdom, Celtic spirituality, eco-theology, and more. Each offers a different lens for seeing the Earth as sacred, and for nurturing a deeper connection with the natural world.
- Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer: A lyrical blend of Indigenous knowledge, scientific insight, and personal reflection—this is a love letter to the Earth and a call to reciprocal living.
- Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul by John Philip Newell: Grounded in Celtic spirituality, this book invites us to rediscover the divine presence in all things, especially the natural world.
- The Re-Enchantment of the World by Morris Berman: A deep dive into how Western society became disconnected from nature, and how a return to reverence can help us heal.
- Black Nature: Four Centuries of African American Nature Poetry edited by Camille T. Dungy: The first anthology to focus on nature writing by African American poets, offering vital and often overlooked perspectives on the natural world.
- Earth Prayers edited by Elizabeth Roberts & Elias Amidon: A collection of poems, prayers, and blessings from global traditions—offering sacred words for every season of the Earth.
- Active Hope by Joanna Macy & Chris Johnstone: A practical guide to facing the climate crisis with strength, mindfulness, and a deep sense of purpose.
