My roots are African, my heritage is the Caribbean (I am a proud descendant of the Windrush) and my experience is British, as I was born in the North-West of England, where I have resided all my life. Raise by ‘Grandma Magic’ my late grandmother who arrived in the Windrush from Guyana, Caribbean.
My formative years of growing up on a white working-class estate meant that, like many black people, I was subject to racialised stigma and isolation. For many years now, this has fuelled my background of socio-political activism and my spiritual practice, where I have sought to build a more inclusive world than the one I was born into.
Over the past 40 years, I have been actively involved in addressing and mitigating the impact of systemic inequalities for members of the Afro-Caribbean community in Manchester, I have worked directly with some of the most marginalised individuals with a focus on supporting challenges faced by prisoners and their families, young people, community groups and interfaith groups.
Since my Ordination in 2012, I have served as an Interfaith Minister. I was schooled in 10 different faiths and how to serve those of no faith. I create and deliver bespoke ceremonies for babies, married couples, those who have passed on, rites of passage and any other milestones you want to celebrate. I provide spiritual counselling to those who require my services.
Outside of my ministry, I hold multiple roles including Director, Patron, Co-chair, Vice Chair, and a community member of several charities around the country.
A Radio presenter (telling people’s life stories), Public speaker, Peaceful Protester, Spiritual/Personal development Facilitator teaching Mindfulness, Forgiveness, Tree of life and supporting others with different healing therapies.
I’ve received national recognition from accolades to multiple awards from different UK leaders for the community work I have embarked upon, for the past 35 years. And more recently I was blessed to have met Prince Harry who visited the Caribbean community in Manchester and thanked us for the work we have done.
In my spare time, I am a mother of two adult boys who continue to bring adventure, animation and learning to my life. I like to indulge in all things spiritually enriching and holistic, including reading, walking & praying, writing old-fashioned letters, dinner parties, floristry, dancing, travelling, spas, arts & crafts, and most of all learning a new.
